Let me tell you something about Boomer dads doing the grocery shopping. It was like watching a penguin try to fly—well-intentioned, but utterly baffling. I’ve seen my fair share of dad-induced grocery store chaos. You think it’s straightforward? Think again.

Running a small business must often feel like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle, or in my case running my family. From managing inventory, to staff, to engaging customers, every task demands attention and, in most cases, more attention than you probably have to spare. While larger companies have the luxury of dedicated departments and somewhat hefty budgets, smaller business owners are usually wearing multiple hats like a circus clown—sometimes all at once. But here’s the good news: when it comes to audio services, small businesses can have the same access, the same top-tier support, that larger retailers enjoy, without breaking the bank. As someone who has always had a soft spot for the single-store owner, I can’t help but get excited about this. Not your average “I finally get a piece of chocolate cake” excited, I’m talking “I get to eat a whole Key-Lime pie myself” excited.
Creating advertising that appeals to Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z is like trying to host a dinner party for my huge family where everyone from the grandkids to the matriarch have very specific likes, dislikes and dietary restrictions. It’s enough to make my head spin off its precariously seated axel. You’ve got my Boomers, who prefer their meat and potatoes, Gen Xer’s who are on a low-carb kick, a handful of Millennials asking if it’s gluten-free, Gen Zer’s wondering if it’s vegan and ethically sourced, and a smattering of Alpha’s running around who only care about “when” we’re eating. It’s an art form, really, and every time I pull it off, I feel like I deserve an award.
“Hey, everyone. I thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is Harlee and I’m a stunning twenty-eight-year-old brunette, and I’m finally getting my moment in the spotlight. My mom writes blogs all the time, and it’s about time she dedicated one to her favorite child—me! So, let me tell you all about my fabulous life.”
Hey there! Just turned 62 last week and let me tell you, while my mind thinks I’m still a sprightly 30, my body loves to disagree. Welcome to my life, where the family situations are plentiful and the laughter is never-ending. You see, Over the years I’ve become somewhat of a Generational Marketing sage, using my wonderfully chaotic family as a test market for my materials. But first, let me introduce you to the whole cast of characters that make up my big, boisterous clan.
Ah, eggs. Those little oval marvels of culinary versatility, packed with protein and, as it turns out, controversy. Who would’ve thought that something as simple as an egg could be the source of so many heated debates? Let’s crack open some of these egg-centric controversies and have a little fun.
Branding is a four-letter word for Millennials and Gen Z. They hear “branding” and immediately think of annoying ads, fake promises, and cringey attempts to be cool. (Like I’m not cool! Just ask my 6-year-old grandson Drew, I’m the coolest thing since sliced bread) It’s a real challenge, but fear not—there’s a way to crack the code and win them over.
